Never forget the essentials again.

Make it to the trailhead with everything you need, without stressing about trying to remember all the details.

Trying to remember to pack everything for a hike can be tricky- it feels like there are so many little details you DON’T want to forget.

You’ve made list after list, but you always misplace it!

So you keep it all in your head, trying to not freak out that you’re forgetting the one thing that could change the entire day.

The last thing you want is to drive all the way to the trailhead and realize that you’re missing that one piece of essential equipment.

I know that feeling well, as it’s happened to me more than a couple times!

After this happened one too many times, I decided to do something about it. I created the ultimate packing list for a day hike that can be carried everywhere your phone is or printed out and put right in your backpack. And now I want to share that with you!

I’ll never forget the day that I had the most epic hike planned with a group of friends to hike up Tuckerman’s Ravine in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

We got to the trailhead before dawn, and as I went to put on my boots… they weren’t there!! Yup- I had forgotten one of the most important items of all.

My BOOTS!

Luckily, someone else in the group had a spare that happened to be my size, but still…

It was a close call.

The best part? It’s totally FREE.

I want to make sure that no one has this happen to them, so I created the Ultimate Hiking Packing list.

There are so many little things to remember to pack even for a day hike, so I did the work for you. Don’t be like me and forget your boots- get this checklist!

This is something that you can reference hike after hike, and add to as you go along.

You can print it out, save it on your phone, or take a picture of it!

Having this list will make your life easier as you won’t have to worry about forgetting anything and you don’t need to wrack your brain trying to remember what the essentials are.

So, what is this checklist best for?

  • This list was created with a hike in temperate weather in mind. This list is not for winter hiking or desert hiking. The best way to apply this checklist is by hiking in 60-75F degree weather.

  • This is not a list to be applied to a backpacking trip. This should be for day hikes no more than 10 miles.

  • This may not be an exhaustive list. If you have medical conditions that require certain considerations, bring those along too. And if you decide to take a hike in 90F weather, maybe you could leave behind the wool beanie ;) And don’t be afraid to add your own items to the list as well!
